Collection Containers
An organics collection system inside your facility should mirror your current trash collection system in order to help make the transition easy for associates. Separated organics will be placed into organics recycling bins and then emptied into an organics only compactor or wheeled carts while non-recyclables will to go into the trash bins and trash compactor. Compostable Liner Bags
Liner bags are a requirement in all in-store organic recycling bins to reduce odor and improve sanitation and cleanliness. The only approved liner bags are “certified compostable” bags. Certified compostable liner bags are in compliance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifications for compostable plastics D6400-99. The primary advantage of using certified compostable liner bags is reduced labor in that they do not need to manually or mechanically separate the bags from the collected organic material
